The Lupus Legacy And Wellness Foundation, Inc.
Empowering Lupus Warriors Through Community, Support, and Hope
About Our Foundation
The Lupus Legacy & Wellness Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, empowering, and advocating for individuals impacted by lupus and other chronic illnesses. We create a strong community where lupus warriors feel seen, supported, informed, and connected while bringing greater awareness to the realities of living with chronic illness. Our mission is to bridge the gaps that lupus warriors and individuals with chronic illnesses often experience in support, resources, education, community, and healthcare advocacy. Our Mission: To build a legacy of hope, healing, and advocacy for people living with lupus by creating safe spaces, cultivating community, providing meaningful support, and leading efforts to transform healthcare into a more equitable, compassionate, and accessible system for all individuals with chronic illnesses.
We believe in the strength and resilience of our community. Through our comprehensive programs and initiatives, we provide emergency assistance, educational resources, wellness opportunities, and scholarship support. Our foundation is committed to fostering transformation, hope, and wellness for all those affected by lupus, creating a network of support that extends far beyond medical treatment to encompass the whole person. Our Vision: To create a world where every lupus warrior is empowered by community, supported by equitable healthcare, represented with dignity, and equipped with the resources to thrive, while transforming lupus awareness into a global movement of hope, advocacy, and lasting change.
Support Group
Community Support and Advocacy
The Lupus Legacy & Wellness Foundation will establish the Lupus Legacy Warrior Support Community, a collection of supportive peer-based groups designed to provide connection, understanding, education, encouragement, and a sense of belonging for individuals affected by lupus and chronic illness. The Foundation recognizes that chronic illness can be isolating. Warriors may have supportive family members and friends while still feeling that the people around them do not fully understand the physical, emotional, social, educational, and financial realities of living with chronic illness. The goal of this initiative is simple: No Warrior should have to navigate their journey alone.
Education & Wellness
The Education & Wellness Program will provide accessible, evidence-informed education, trusted health resources, and chronic-illness-friendly wellness opportunities for individuals living with lupus and other chronic illnesses, their caregivers, and the broader community. The Foundation recognizes that receiving a diagnosis is only the beginning of a person's healthcare journey. Warriors are often left trying to understand changing treatments, new medical research, nutrition, medications, supplements, physical activity, wellness practices, and large amounts of health information available online. The goal of this initiative is to help Warriors become informed, confident, and empowered participants in their own healthcare while supporting wellness of the whole person
Scholarships and Emergency Assistance
The Lupus Legacy & Wellness Foundation will establish the Lupus Legacy Warrior Scholarship Program to provide educational financial assistance to a limited number of qualifying students each year. The Foundation recognizes that students living with lupus may experience hospitalizations, medical treatments, fatigue, financial hardship, reduced course loads, interruptions in enrollment, and other circumstances that can jeopardize their educational progress despite their commitment to succeeding. The program will prioritize perseverance, financial need, commitment to education, and the impact of lupus on the applicant's educational journey rather than relying solely on traditional measures of academic achievement. The emergency assistance program is to provide short-term financial, medical-access, transportation, and mobility assistance to individuals living with lupus and qualifying chronic illnesses who are experiencing financial hardship that threatens their ability to access necessary care, maintain independence, or meet essential needs.
